What Is the Scheme, in Simple Words

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the new phase at a ceremony in Arifwala. The idea is simple: transport eats a big part of a student's budget — many students spend Rs 5,000–8,000 every month just reaching campus. An electric bike cuts that cost to almost nothing.

The government pays the interest on the loan, and the Bank of Punjab handles the money side — verification, installments, delivery. Reports say the subsidy is around Rs 70,000 per bike.

Who Qualifies

• Punjab domicile and a valid CNIC

• Regular student of a recognized college or university

• A motorcycle driving license or learner's permit — required for boys and girls both

• You must not already own a registered vehicle

• One bike per family — even if two brothers or sisters both qualify, only one gets it

• If applications are more than the quota, selection is by computerized balloting (lottery)

The Money Side

• Girls: free e-bike, no down payment, no installment

• Boys: Rs 15,000 down payment, then roughly Rs 2,000–2,100 per month for 24 months, zero interest

• Bike registration cost is separate — plan for it

• During the installment period you cannot sell or transfer the bike; full ownership becomes yours after the last payment

• The Bank of Punjab can reject an application if your guarantor's details fail verification — give real, checkable information
