The Punjab government has approved 100,000 electric bikes for students. Male students pay a Rs 14,000 down payment plus Rs 2,100 a month for two years, interest-free. For female students the government covers the down payment and registration fee, so they pay only the Rs 2,100 monthly installment.

What the Scheme Is, in Simple Words
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the relaunch during a Transport and Mass Transit Department meeting. The plan is 100,000 e-bikes for students within one year.
The logic is simple. Transport eats a big part of a student's budget. An electric bike cuts that cost to almost nothing.
The government pays a subsidy of Rs 70,000 on every bike and covers the loan markup, so students pay zero interest. The Bank of Punjab handles verification, installments and delivery.
Who Qualifies
These conditions come from the official Punjab government scheme page:
Age 18 or above
Regular student of a degree college or university recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC)
Valid motorcycle learner's permit or driving licence — required for male and female students both
Selection is by computerised e-balloting if applications exceed the quota
Balloting is done by domicile district
There is an equal quota for male and female students at divisional level, with proportional quotas for the rest of Punjab
One point to watch: earlier phases started with five districts before widening to the whole province. The district list for this new round has not been published yet.

About the "free bikes for girls" claim
You will see headlines saying female students get e-bikes completely free. Be careful with that.
The approval meeting in June was clear: the government pays the down payment and registration fee for female students, and they still pay Rs 2,100 a month.
Some later coverage of the Chief Minister's Arifwala ceremony described the bikes as free of cost for girls.
Both versions are in circulation. The official portal has not published this round's final terms yet, so treat "completely free" as unconfirmed until it does.
How to Apply (When the Portal Opens)
Go to the official Punjab government portal. Nowhere else.
Register with your CNIC and an active mobile number. Verify the OTP.
Fill the form and upload documents — CNIC, domicile, student proof, licence or learner's permit, photograph.
Choose your bike from the approved catalogue. You cannot pick a model outside it.
Submit and wait for verification.
Selection by e-balloting. Results appear on the portal.
Visit the Bank of Punjab for loan processing and delivery.
The whole process is digital. No office visits and no agents.
Why an E-Bike Actually Saves Money
Here is the rough math on a 60 km day.
A petrol bike doing around 35 km per litre burns close to 1.7 litres. At roughly Rs 343 a litre, that is about Rs 585.
An electric bike covers the same distance on about one unit of electricity — roughly Rs 45 to 50.
That gap is the whole story. For a student riding daily, the fuel saving alone can cover most of the monthly installment.

Watch Out for Scams
Every time a government scheme opens, fake registration agents appear.
The application is free. Anyone asking for a fee to "confirm your bike" is a fraud.
Check the domain. A real Government of Punjab website ends in .gov.pk. Several look-alike sites collect CNIC numbers and phone numbers from students.
Never send money to a WhatsApp number, a Facebook page or a third-party website.
